I love to paint. One reason is that, as I paint a face, be it human or animal, I really get to know them as an individual. So...I make friends when I paint. I always start with the eyes since they seem to look back from my paper and beseech me to continue to work. I believe that you can tell a lot about a person or animal's personality by looking into their eyes.

My son, when he was little, was asked what his Mom did for a living. He said "she makes people cry". I explained to him that wasn't really my job but, yes, I make people cry. To this day, when I deliver a portrait, my family asks if they cried. If so, then I did my job.
